FAQs and Policies

Where are you located?

I’m based in Los Angeles and currently only booking reel shoots in the greater LA area. However, I accept editing projects from anywhere in the country!

Which scene package should I book?

We offer several packages based on the type of scene you're looking to shoot:

  • 1, 2, or 3 Scene Packages: Ideal for traditional dialogue scenes—conversations in any genre that showcase your range and on-screen chemistry.

  • Monologue Package: Perfect for 30–60 second monologues or speeches with no scene partner. Shot primarily in close-ups to highlight your performance and emotional range.

  • Action Package: Designed for procedural or physically demanding scenes—think foot chases, shootouts, boxing, or fight sequences. Please note: certain scenes may incur additional costs depending on complexity, choreography, or location needs.

How does payment work?

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking. The remaining 50% is due upon delivery of the final edit. Final footage will not be released until full payment is received. You’re also welcome to pay the full amount upfront if preferred.

Are there any extra fees?

The most common additional fees apply to our Action Scene Package, due to stunts, props, effects, or location needs. These will be discussed during the pre-production meeting.

Other potential fees may include:

  • Hiring additional scene partners

  • Special equipment or prop rentals

  • Specific location requests

  • Extra post-production work (e.g. VFX)

If you think your scene may require any of the above, feel free to reach out for an estimate before booking. Any extra fees must be paid at least one week before the shoot day, or the scene will be reworked accordingly—no exceptions.

What if I need to cancel my shoot?

If you need to cancel, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. While the initial deposit is non-refundable, we’re happy to reschedule your shoot if proper notice is given.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the shoot date will not be rescheduled, and the deposit will be forfeited. If there is an emergency, please contact us and we will work to reschedule.

How can I reschedule my booking?

I understand that unexpected things come up, and I respect the time and investment you're making in your reel. If you need to reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours before your scheduled shoot.

Rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of the shoot date will not be accepted, and the deposit will be forfeited.

Can I bring my own actors for my scene?

Absolutely! You're welcome—and encouraged—to bring your own scene partner. Depending on your booking type, there may be a limit to the number of scene partners allowed.

If you’re unable to find someone, you can add a Scene Partner during booking for an additional fee. I’ll provide a trained actor from one of LA’s top acting schools to perform alongside you.

What about locations?

Locations are chosen based on the needs of your scene. Past shoots have taken place in rented spaces, cars, parks, and various spots around the city.

If your scene requires a rental, I’ll work to find a location that fits both your vision and budget—typically without adding extra cost. However, if you request a specific location with a higher price point, that may incur an additional fee. This will always be discussed during the pre-production meeting.

With a little movie magic, I can make almost any location work. If you have something specific in mind, feel free to email me and we’ll figure out the best option for your scene.

Do you provide coaching or direction on set?

Yes! Direction and performance feedback are provided during your shoot.

Can I provide my own script?

Yes! You're welcome—and encouraged—to submit your own script. We’ll review and discuss it during your pre-production meeting.

To maintain quality and safety standards, I reserve the right to decline any script based on its content.

What would cause my script to be turned down?

I fully respect that film is an art form and self-expression is at the heart of what we do. However, as professionals, we also recognize the line between artistic content and material that may be considered gratuitous or offensive.

Scripts containing pornographic content, excessive violence, racism, sexism, or other offensive material will not be accepted. Remember—your reel is your calling card, and you want it to reflect your talent in the best light when submitting to industry professionals.

If you're unsure about your script, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to review it with you and help with any content adjustments.

How does the pre-production meeting work?

After you complete your booking, I’ll reach out to schedule your pre-production meeting. During the meeting, we’ll go over your script, your goals for the scene, the visual style you’re aiming for, and all the key logistics—when, where, and how we’ll film it. It’s also a great time to ask any questions and make sure everything feels clear and aligned before shoot day.

Can I take behind-the-scenes photos during our shoot?

Absolutely! Getting new footage is an exciting experience, and I encourage you to capture behind-the-scenes photos and videos throughout the process. Feel free to share them on social media and tag @TheActorsReel!

Can you edit the footage for me?

Yes! Editing is included with every Actors Reel scene package. If you'd like your newly shot scene added to an existing reel, that’s included as well.

If you need editing for footage not shot by The Actors Reel, you’ll need to purchase the Basic Editing Package.

What is the Basic Editing Package?

The Basic Editing Package covers any editing work for footage not filmed by The Actors Reel. This includes:

  • Editing outside scenes into your reel

  • Rearranging or updating an existing acting reel

  • Adding new footage to your reel after your shoot with us

It’s a great option if you want a polished reel but already have some material to work with.

What’s included in post-production?

All packages include professional editing, color correction, sound syncing, and basic sound design. More advanced effects (like VFX or stylized looks) can be discussed in pre-production and may carry an additional charge.

When will I receive my final edit?

Final edits are typically delivered within 7–10 business days after your shoot. If you need a rush delivery, let us know—additional fees may apply.

Do I get to keep my footage?

Yes! You’ll receive high-resolution, color-corrected footage from your shoot, professionally edited using industry-standard software. I’ll also provide audio-synced clips of every take, so you have full access to your performance and can use the footage however you’d like.

Do you offer rush edits?

Rush edits (delivered within 48–72 hours) are available for an additional fee. Let us know when booking if you need a fast turnaround.

Can I use this footage for submissions, websites, or social media?

Yes! All footage is yours to use on casting sites, personal websites, and social media. Tagging @TheActorsReel is always appreciated!

What if my scene takes longer than the scheduled shoot time?

While rare, unexpected issues like weather or technical problems can happen. To avoid delays, we’ll work together during the pre-production meeting to ensure your script is achievable within the scheduled time frame.

The best way to stay on track is to know your lines and come prepared. If outside circumstances (e.g., weather or equipment issues) prevent us from finishing the scene, I’ll reschedule and complete the shoot at no additional cost.

However, if we go over time due to lack of preparation, repeated disruptions, or unprofessional behavior, the shoot will end at the scheduled time—or earlier if necessary. In these cases, no refunds or footage will be provided.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! We offer a 10% discount for:

  • Returning clients (you’ll receive a discount code after completing your first booking)

  • Current acting school students (email us proof of enrollment to receive your discount code before booking)

All discount codes must be applied at the time of booking.

What if my scene requires weapons or firearms?

We have a strict safety policy regarding weapons and dangerous props. Live firearms, working replicas, blank-firing guns, any projectile weapons, or flammable items are strictly prohibited on set—no exceptions.

If your scene requires a weapon, we’ll use rubber or plastic prop weapons instead. Depending on the cost of the prop, an additional fee may be added to your booking. This policy is non-negotiable and is in place to ensure a safe working environment for everyone.

What if my scene is more like a short film?

Many past clients have structured their scenes as short films—this is most commonly done through our Premium Package. That said, we ask that you keep the scale of your project realistic.

While we love ambitious ideas, please remember we can’t film the next Fast & Furious or stage an alien invasion within a short shoot window. Your reel should highlight your best work, and we're here to help you do exactly that—creatively, efficiently, and professionally.

How long should my scene be?

For the best results, we recommend keeping your scene between 30 seconds and 1.5 minutes, or about 1–2 script pages. This helps keep the pacing tight and your performance impactful—ideal for casting directors reviewing multiple reels.

Monologue scenes should be kept to 1 page maximum to maintain focus and deliver your strongest work in a concise format.
